PURPOSE:To make the noise reduction of the roller chain stable without aging by a method wherein a thin metallic spring rolled into a roller shape is utilized instead of a rolling roller in the roller chain. CONSTITUTION:When a sprocket 1 is rotated, the roller chain 2 is wound and the rolling roller 7 enters inbetween the teeth of the sprocket 1. Since the rolling roller 7 is made so as to have a spiral shape and a slightly larger diameter so that a small clearance is produced between a bushing 6, it is abutted against the surface of the teeth before colliding against the bottom of the teeth and subsequently it is forced into the bottom of the teeth narrower than the bushing 6. Accordingly, a driving force for the chain is not acting totally yet to the rolling roller 7, therefore, the momentum thereof is small and a generating collision sound is not so big also. The collision sound may be attenuated rapidly by the deformation of the rolling roller 6 produced when the rolling roller 7 is forced against the bottom of the teeth. |
