The control circuit operates a lamp from the mains using a low voltage control. A photocoupler is provided with direct current from a DC source via a filtering network. The DC source may be varied between 0 and 15 volts to control the operation of the photocoupler. The output of the photocoupler is applied to a dephaser which receives a reference voltage via lines connected to the mains input. The control current thus produced is applied to a power triac in a switching circuit via a memory. This controls the amount of light produced by the load, which may for example be a discharge lamp used in a public place. The remote control of intensity requires only a few milliamps of current at low voltage, and may thus be conveniently situated at some distance from the lamp. |
