<p>The logarithm of the modulus of video frequency signals, encountered in radar or telecommunications applications, is calculated from the quadrative components of the signal. The components (I,Q) are previously been numerically coded and their absolute value is calculated. The procedure calculates the logarithm of the absolute value of the components, and compares the results with previously obtained max. and min. values. The logarithms are subtracted from the maxima/minima, and the difference is multiplied by 2. Transcoding is obtained by performing the calculation Log (1+ mod I squared/modQ squared) or log(1+modQ squared/modI squared). The transcoded result is added to the min value after its multiplication by 2 and multiplies the resulting sum by 1/2. A circuit comprising modulation and encoding devices and various arithmetic circuits is used to implement the procedure.</p> |
