Air heater operating on either gas or electricity - uses parallel chambers containing electric heating elements and gas combustion chambers in alternate ducts

The air heater uses both gas and electricity as energy sources and comprises a sheet metal body with vertical walls (1) separated one from the other so as to form several horizontal channels (2). Alternative chambers either have air flowing through or form combustion chambers (3). The gas burners are (6) placed at the bottom of alternate chambers, while electric heating elements (11) are fitted into the air chambers. A flue (9) is fitted a the top to remove combustion products and a fan (10) forces air horizontally through the heater core. A thermostat is fitted as are controls to allow the use of either gas or electricity as fuel. The gas heater section has an automatic ignition, system with an electronic control box and a ventilator controller. The flame is controlled by a solenoid valve responsive to an insulation detector.
