ADHESIVE FOR POLYESTER FIBER MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To provide the titled adhesive which exhibits high adhesive force in one step and little suffers deterioration of adhesive force during application at high temperature, consisting of an alkoxyphenol derivative/a resorcinol derivative/formaldehyde co-condensate. CONSTITUTION:Water contg. an acidic catalyst such as hydrochloric acid or oxalic acid is added to a mixture of an alkoxyphenol derivative of formulaI (wherein R1 is H, a 1-3C alkyl; R2 is a 1-4C alkyl) sych as m-methoxyphenol and a resorcinol derivative such as 5-methylresorcinol in a molar ratio of 2:1- 1:4. Then an aq. formalin soln. is added dropwise to the resulting mixture to obtain a co-condensate having an average MW of 300-600 which is then used as an adhesive for bonding between a polyester fiber material and a rubber.
