<p>The coating consists of an underlayer formed by a glass fibre mat or a sheet of nylon, which is covered by a layer of mica milled to a particle size of a few microns and agglomerated with a vinyl binder or other commercially-available binders. This underlayer reflects heat, and is used with a top, decorative layer for the thermal insulation of floors, ceilings, walls or partitions in buildings, offices etc. The top decorative layer is that used by the makers of floor coatings etc., and must be compatible with the binder employed with the mica. The underlayer may also be used on the external surfaces of buildings. The invention provides a coating which is only 2-3mm thick.</p> |
