The invention relates to a base profile sill/threshold (4) for the frame (3) of a wooden or plastic window or of a wooden or plastic door, which base profile sill/threshold (4) can be exposed long-term to weathering effects, can be subjected to foot traffic, and is adapted in its heat insulation value to the other frame parts. The base profile sill/threshold has two metal profiles (7, 8), which are connected to one another via at least one plastic strip (9). The metal profiles (7, 8) guarantee the desired resistance to wearing by weathering effects and, in the case of a door base profile, permit foot traffic, while, as a result of the thermal break achieved by the plastic strip (9) or by the plastic strips, the heat insulation value of the base profile sill/threshold (4) is adapted to the heat insulation value of the other frame parts. <IMAGE>
