PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of recording and reproducing, by dividing a large-capacity recording medium to sectors and recording data on another sector if the quantity of detected errors on one sector exceeds a ceratain value. CONSTITUTION:In respect to data read out from an optical disc 1, error correction codes (added to data) are detected in every part ni (one sector consists of parts n1-ni-nR) by an error detecting means 3; and if a double error is detected in the part ni by the first discriminating means 4 or >=3 single errors or two continuous single errors are detected in R-number of parts ni by the second discriminating means 5, the output is generated from the first or the second discriminating means 4 or 5 to output a rewrite signal from a rewrite control means 7, and data is written on another sector by a recording means. |
