PURPOSE:To achieve pure binary coding at a high speed, by adding while converting binary-coded decimal numbers into binary numbers which correspond to respective bits. CONSTITUTION:For the conversion of a four-digit binary-coded decimal number into a binary number, 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 20, 40, 80, 100, 200, 400- which correspond to respective bits of the binary-coded decimal number are stored in an ROM18. The binary-coded decimal number, after being stored in a shift register 10 temporarily, is outputted starting at the least significant digit bit by a clock signal. When the least significant digit bit is a ''1'', the corresponding ''1'' in the ROM18 is applied to an adder 16. Then, the 2nd bit is read out of the shift register 10. If the 2nd bit is a ''0'', addition is not carried out. Thus, a check on whether each bit is the ''1'' or ''0'' is made and when the bit is the ''1'', the corresponding bit numbers in the ROM8 is converted into binary numbers, which are added successively. |
