PURPOSE:To prevent defective copying due to humidity change, by providing a circuit for detecting the humidity in atmosphere and controlling a voltage applied to a charger based on this detection. CONSTITUTION:If the humidity is decreased, a discharge current by a corona charger 6 is increased and adverse effect is given to copying. In this case, a control circuit 10 receives a detection signal due to the reduction in the humidity from a humidity detector 9, an output voltage of a high voltage AC power supply 8 is switched by the reception and this voltage is applied to the corona charger 6. That is, a voltage lower than a reference voltage is supplied to the corona charger 6 according to the reduction in the humidity, allowing to suppress the corona discharge current, and thus, defective copying due to a copying corona charger 5 can be prevented and stable peeling can be achieved. Inversely, if the humidity is high, a high voltage is applied to the corona charger 6 from the power supply 8 and excellent peeling can be achieved. |
