<p>The auxiliary blower nozzle is intended for aiding the passage of a weft thread through the warp gap of a shuttle-less, e.g. air jet-type, weaving loom. It consists of a hollow needle (1) which is closed at one end and provided with a single blow orifice in the wall near that end. The perimeter of this orifice is polygonal in shape and may have curved sides and/or radiused corners. This shape preferably has two axes of symmetry (at right angles to one another) and may be in the form of a multi-pointed star. The blower is used for shuttle-less weaving looms. The use of a single blower orifice as specified produces a better weft thread directing effect and higher air velocity than existing multi-orifice blowers. The axis of the air flow coincides with the normal axis of the orifice cross-section so that the jet flow direction is exactly predictable which is not achievable with existing designs. The orifice is easily producable, e.g. by spark erosion or laser beam drilling, which reduces machining time and increases accuracy.</p> |
