In the case of a mounting box for electrical installation apparatuses for fixing on a mounting wall which has hook projections and is preferably a component of a cable duct, the mounting box is mounted in the interior of said cable duct by means of holders which can be attached to the hook projections and overhang the base of the box underneath. These holders are intended to be capable of being detached and fixed for locking from the front side, without there being any necessity to detach any installation and wiring of an installation apparatus in the mounting box again. For this purpose, the holders consist of sliding clips, which can move in guide grooves in the side walls of the mounting box, in its longitudinal direction, and whose clip part can be pulled in between supporting walls of a retaining space so that the hook projections of the cable duct are gripped in a clamping manner. In this position, although the mounting box is fixed on one side to the cable duct, it can, however, be displaced in the direction of the strip-like hook projections. For final fixing, attachment screws can be tightened in the slide part of the sliding clips, as a result of which the clip parts can be firmly clamped against the hook projections on the cable duct.
