In a device for mounting and/or holding a workpiece on a lathe, the workpiece being clamped in place by means of holding members which are provided with rotatably mounted rollers at their ends, at least one of the holding members is provided with a wiping element which has a wiper and can be pressed against the workpiece by means of a spring. In this way, adhering chips can be cleaned from the surface of the workpiece before the latter comes into contact with the roller. The entire end of the holding member (5) is also covered so that the ingress of dirt is impossible.
