Device for improving the mixture formation in spark ignition engines

The invention relates to a device for improving the mixture formation in spark ignition engines, in which a pressure reducer, principally a venturi tube is fitted in the intake pipe. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that downstream of the venturi tube of the carburettor an additional restriction is formed which has a curved generatrix. It is proposed that the smallest diameter of the restriction be approximately 90% of the intake pipe diameter, the length of the restriction, however, 50%, advantageously 15 - 25% of the intake pipe diameter. By using the proposed device, the efficiency of the atomisation can be improved and the combustion rendered more complete, which is associated with an improvement of the mixture formation. In such engines, a fuel saving of 5 - 8% can be obtained by all these measures.
