This rolling tape is moved by a motor past a viewing window by unwinding or winding up, the respective tape position being detected via lateral point or line markings on the rolling tape and scanning by light barriers, and when they correspond to a preselected destination, the drive is stopped. To simplify the operation and in case of a failure of the synchronisation, without which the various indicators of the vehicle drift apart after a certain time, it is proposed according to the invention that a destination-specific binary code word is allocated to each destination, that the code words passing through are detected by means of reflection-type light barriers (6) and compared with the code word set by means of coding switches (13) in accordance with the desired destination. In the case of inequality of the code words, a comparator (16) determines the direction of rotation of the drive motor and in the case of equality, it stops the drive motor. Advantage: detection of the destination is accurate and is carried out independently of any destination indicator. The rate of movement of the individual destination indicators becomes insignificant.
