A screw cap 1 for fitting to a container is equipped with an indicator 2, which shows whether or not the cap has been removed from the container. The indicator 2 comprises inwardly projecting lips on the screw cap 1, which interact with corresponding projecting elements on the container. When the cap 1 is first unscrewed, the indicator 2 is at least partially torn off. The indicator 2 consists of a flange-like, vertical annular body situated peripherally in relation to the cap 1, the body along at least part of its upper edge being fixed to the cap by means of a largely horizontal part. The flange- like body is equipped with a plurality of preferably vertical weakened points 4. These are designed to be at last partially broken the first time the cap 1 is unscrewed. The indicator remains seated on the screw cap and thus does not drop off when the container is emptied. <IMAGE> |
