PURPOSE:To mass-produce gimbal springs for magnetic head with high precision inexpensively, by adhering alloy materials for the spring onto a plastic substrate formed into gimbal-shape and exfoliating the plastic substrate and subjecting alloy materials to the heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A plastic sheet is punched to gimbal-shape continuously to form a plastic substrate 1 which becomes a backing substrate of a gimbals spring for nagnetic head. The sheet consisting of polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS resin, or the like is used as the plastic sheet. Alloy materials for spring are adhered onto the punched plastic bsubstrate 1 by the wet method such as electroless or elecrolytic poating, sputtering, or the dry method such as vacuum vapro-deposition to form a gimbals spring base material 2. Next, the plastic substrate 1 is exfoliated from the gimbals spring base material 2. The gimbals spring base material 2 after exfoliation is subjected to the heat treatment. A prescribed core head 4 is mounted on the gimbals spring 3 for magnetic head obtained in this manner to obtain a magnetic head A. |
