PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for precise position control over a supply pipe where liquid crystal is stuck by preventing liquid crystal from dripping along the flank of an empty cell by specifying the internal diameter of the supply pipe and the thickness of the empty cell. CONSTITUTION:A vacuum device 9 wherein an empty cell 1, a boat 4 filled with liquid crystal 3, and a supply pipe 5 supported by a holder 6 are installed is evacuated and after water in the liquid crystal in the boat 4 is removed, the supply pipe 5 is dipped in the liquid crystal 3 by lowering the holder 6 to stick a certain amount of the liquid crystal 3 to the supply pipe 5, thus supplying the liquid crystal to an injection opening 2. The inside of the vacuum device 9 is returned to the atmospheric pressure to inject the liquid crystal covering the injection opening 2 into the empty cell 1 by a difference between the pressure of the empty cell 1 and the atmospheric pressure. The thickness (t) of the empty cell and the internal diameter (d) of the supply pipe are so specified that 0.25t <=d<=2.5t, thus preventing the contamination of an outside surface due to the dripping the liquid crystal along the flank of the empty cell before the injection. |
