This method is related to the continuous wiping of coated metal wire. The wire (1) is emerged from a bath (3) of molten metal through a wiping bed. A static interference device (6) is positioned adjacent to the wire (1) or strip at a distance of < 50 mm from the bed to restrict lamella flow of molten metal entrained by the workpiece. High coating speeds without loss of uniformity of coating are obtained.
