A metal part is brazed to a metal plate(1) by (a) punching out a through-hole(4) in the plate ; (b) punching brazing filler material(2) into the through-hole so that it is held in and protrudes from the through-hole ;(c) placing the metal part on the filler material; and (d) brazing the metal part to the metal plate through the filler material. Steps (a) and (b) may be carried out simultaneously, by feeding the filler material to above the plate at the punching station. The process can be carried out automatically and economical.
