PURPOSE:To improve hot water resistance in flame-retardant processing by the addition of red phosphorus, by blending a composition of polyphenylene ether/ rubber reinforced polystyrene with polyamide and a styrene-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride copolymer. CONSTITUTION:(B) 0.1-3pts.wt. red phosphorus is added to (A) 100pts.wt. resin composition comprising 20-70pts.wt. polyphenylene ether resin[e.g.: (2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene)ether, etc.]shown by the formula (R1 and R2 are alkyl, aryl, halogen H, etc.; m is polymerization degree), 0-60pts.wt. rubber reinforced polystyrene (usually high-impact polystyrene), 5-50pts.wt. polyamide, and 3- 40pts.wt. copolymer of styrene with alpha,beta-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride (e.g.: maleic anhydride, etc.) and/or alpha,beta-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid imide compound (e.g.: N-phenylmaleimide, etc.). |
