<p>Polyvalent vaccines against leprosy are prepd. from at least one form of Hansen bacillus, i.e . BAAR (acid-resistant bacilli), cyanophilic forms, form 2, form 3, or mixts. of some or all of these forms, obtd. from cultures in suitable selected media, of leprous inoculums which are leprous serums, leprous bacillary suspensions, filtrates of leprous bacillary suspension not treated with decontaminants, ground leprous tissue, filtrates of BAAR cultures lysed on Lowensteins medium, aged BAAR cultures, these inoculums being used alone or in mixts. then transplanting the leprous strains obtd. into a suitable maintenance medium, and stopping the multiplication of the cultures by any appropriate sterilisation technique. The product is then subdivided into unit doses for the prophylactic treatment of leprosy. The method overcomes the known difficulties of prepg. leprosy vaccine.</p> |
