PURPOSE:To reduce the resistance of a hull and to improve the stability of a ship, by attaching a plurality of wings having a wing shaped cross section at the submerged locations on the outer parts of both sides of the ship at a specified angle of attack, and generating lift on said wings during the navigation. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of wings 2 are protruded and fixed to the submerged location of outer parts of both sides of a hull. Each wing 2 has the wing shaped cross section in a vertical cross section plane parallel to the longitudinal axis of the hull and fixed to the hull at the specified angle of attack alpha with respect to the direction of the advance. The slightly different angles of attack alpha can be provided depending on whether the positions of the wings 2 are located at the fore part or after part. However, the same angle of attack is usually provided. The wings 2 can be attached so that they can be rotated and nodded in elevation with a horizontal axis which is perpendicular to the cross section as a central axis. In this constitution, adaptability to pitching and rolling can be enhanced and the stability of the ship can be further increased. |
