PURPOSE:To enable to couple and uncouple an input shaft of a compressor and an output shaft of an engine freely in a desired manner, by supporting coils of an electromagnetic clutch in a fixed manner in an apparatus for changing the speed of rotation of the compressor in two stages according to the engine speed. CONSTITUTION:A belt 8a is rotated always when an output shaft 2 of an engine is turned. However, when current supply to coils 4a, 4b is interrupted, an input shaft of a compressor is not turned. By supplying current to the coil 4a during low speed operation of the engine, a disk plate 6a comes into close contact with a pulley 5a, so that the input shaft 1 is turned via an armature 9 at a speed equal to the speed of output shaft 2 multiplied by D2/D1. On the other hand, by supplying current to the coil 4b during high speed operation of the engine while interrupting current supply to the coils 4a, another disk plate 6b is brought into close contact with a pulley 5b, so that the input shaft 1 is turned by a belt 8b at a speed equal to the speed of output shaft 2 multiplied by D3/D1. |
