PURPOSE:B-142 strain in Mycobacterium is used as a bacterium assimilating tocopherols to effect practically biochemical resolution of optically active tocopherols simply and exactly. CONSTITUTION:B-142 strain in Mycobacterium (FERM-5680) is used as a tocopherol-assimilating bacterium and cultured together with nonnatural tocopherol (2RS, 4'R, 8'R) and/or its ester. Then, the tocopherol with natural conformation (2R, 4'R, 8'R) and/or its ester is obtained from the propagated cells and the nonnatural isomers (2S, 4'R, 8'R) and/or its ester is separated from the culture medium. |
