Method for preventing frost damage to and through hollow profiles embedded in building materials by freezing water

Hollow bodies embedded in buildings fill with water which, in the event of frost, can lead to the bursting of the hollow bodies and of the surrounding building materials as a result of an increase in volume. According to the invention, damage of this kind is prevented in that flow-off orifices are provided for the water and the hollow bodies are suitably filled with appropriate materials up to these flow-off orifices. The method can be used particularly in order to protect railing posts on buildings against frost damage and to repair existing damage. <IMAGE>
