The invention relates to a process for the continuous dyeing of cloth using an acid dye, wherein cloth consisting of animal fibres and/or polyamide fibres is padded with a neutral solution of an acid dye under ordinary pressure and then rapidly steamed in saturated steam at a temperature in the range from 105 DEG C to 130 DEG C in order to fix the dye on the cloth.
