In these devices, the water-receiving containers have rib-like projections running transversely to the flow direction of the smoke gases in such a manner that the projections of adjacent water-receiving containers lie one behind another in the flow direction of the smoke gases and the smoke gases are guided through the flues of the device in a swirling manner to achieve a good efficiency. These projections can form pipe-like lines for the water to be heated; in this case, one pipe of a water-receiving container lies approximately centrally between two pipes of the adjacent water-receiving container.
