A device for forced cooling of a large-area housing part, which is provided with a central recess, of a superconducting magnet contains a coolant supply channel which is thermally connected to the housing part and to whose, and from whose, two connecting pieces, a coolant is respectively supplied and taken away. In the case of this cooling device, it is intended to prevent thermal short-circuits between adjacent subelements of the coolant supply channel. To this end, the invention provides that the single coolant supply channel (12) is constructed to run sinusoidally or in a meandering shape, that the coolant supply channel (12) runs once around the recess (3), and that the two connecting pieces (11, 13) for the coolant supply channel (12) are arranged at such a distance (a) from one another that a predetermined minimum value of the thermal resistance between them is maintained. <IMAGE>
