PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as a raw material of pharmaceuticals, perfumes and pesticides, easily, in high selectivity, by reacting a nitrile having an active hydrogen atom at alpha-position with a 1,3-diene in the presence of a base such as alkali metal amide, and hydrolyzing the reaction product. CONSTITUTION:A nitrile having an active hydrogen atom at the alpha-position (e.g. 2-methylpropionitrile, 2-methylbutyronitrile, etc.) and a 1,3-diene (e.g. butadiene, isoprene, etc.) are used as raw materials, and made to react with each other in the presence of a base such as alkali metal amide, and the reaction product is hydrolyzed to obtain the alkyl-substituted cyclohex-3-enone of formulaI(R<1>-R<4> are alkyl). The reaction is preferably carried out in a solvent such as diethyl ether, hexane, etc. The reaction temperature is <=50 deg.C, and the hydrolysis is carried out in the presence of an acid such as dilute hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, etc. USE:Raw material of steroids, terpenes, prostaglandin, etc. |
