PURPOSE:To reduce a frictional power loss generated at the side board of a runner by a method wherein an introducing port increasing the amount of run- off water out of a runner side chamber than the amount of influent into the runner side chamber is formed at the outer peripheral part of the runner side chamber. CONSTITUTION:Water, entered into the runner side chamber 13 from an upstream side flow passage 22 through a runner gap 11, receives a rotating energy from the runner side board 8 and is whirled in a high speed, therefore, it is pushed against the outer peripheral surface of the runner side chamber 13 by a centrifugal force. The water is discharged to the downstream side flow passage 23 through the downstream side runner gap 11A and a discharging pipe 21. That means the amount of run-off water from the runner side chamber 13 through the introducing port 20 is increased than the amount of influent into the runner side chamber 13, accordingly, the water in the runner side chamber 13 will never fill the runner side chamber 13 and is pushed against the outer peripheral side of the chamber by the centrifugal force. |
