PURPOSE:To clean off the untranscribed toner remaining on the surface of a photoreceptor, by forming a magnetic brush roll with the segments divided toward the circumference of the brush roll and at the same time securing different polarities between the adjacent segments to each other. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic brush roll 3 is formed with segments 3a, 3b... which are divided toward the circumference of the roll 3, and a DC bias power supply 4 is applied to secure the different polarities between the adjacent segments to each other. At the same time, the magnetic brush 5 is generated on the each segment outer circumference surface of the roll 3. A bias power supply 8 higher than the roll 3 is applied to a collecting roll 6 in order to secure the adsorption on only the toner of positive polarity from the roll 3. At the same time, a bias power supply 13 higher than the roll 3 is applied to the other collecting roll 7 to ensure the adsorption and collection of only the toner of adverse polarity out of the toner adsorbed to the roll 3. As a result, the residual untranscribed toner or the surface of a photoreceptor is cleaned off regardless of its polarity. |
