The SZ-stranding apparatus works with a driven stranding disc (20) and with a tubular guiding and storage body (tubular store; 10) which is mounted so as to run freely in the driven stranding disc. In this way, there is no need for the drive to overcome the relatively high mass moment of inertia of the tubular store. <IMAGE>
