PURPOSE:To reduce the mounting area of a bargraph by picking up a light emitted horizontally to a printed board from a light emitting diode element bonded onto the board to a plane perpendicular to the main surface of the board. CONSTITUTION:A die bonding pad 3 is formed at the end of a printed board 1, and a plurality of diode elements 2 are bonded onto the pad 3. Other electrodes and the elements 2 are wire bonded together with the pad, the element unit is molded with transparent resin in parallel with the end face thereof and the end face of the board, and the light from the element 2 is picked up in the direction perpendicular to the end face. In this manner, the mounting area of a bar-graph can be reduced. |
