PURPOSE:To pick up characteristics accurately without having the effect of a minor loop, by detecting conditions of the minor loop around a pattern constituting bit, tracing the profile of the bit and detecting the minor loop at the surrounding. CONSTITUTION:At each bit constituting the profile of pattern stored in a pattern memory 1, the logical level of adjacent bit is judged and the profile of the pattern is traced. Such a device is provided with a ridge tracing section on 4 which detects if the bits constituting the pattern have conditions of the presence of a minor loop W for the surrounding. When the section 4 detects this condition, accurate characteristics can be detected without affected with the minor loop by providing a minor loop tracing section 5 tracing the bit profile and detecting the presence/absence of the minor loop W at the surrounding. |
