PURPOSE:To keep the whole data stored in a memory always precisely without the reduction of operational efficiency by applying error correction based upon an error correcting code to all data at the time of refreshing. CONSTITUTION:A data read out from a memory MM by a command outputted from a refresh controlling circuit RFC to a memory controlling circuit MCT is applied to an error controlling circuit EC and the contents of the data are checked on the basis of an error correcting code and, when an error is discriminated, the data is corrected on the basis of the error correcting code and the corrected data is sent from the error correcting circuit EC to the memory MM and stored in the memory MM. Thus, the data error is corrected simultaneously with the refreshing operation to all addresses of the memory, correcting errors precisely without the accumulation of errors and keeping the whole data always precise. |
