PURPOSE:To obtain an electrooptic display device which has no peeling and superior durability, specially a liquid crystal display device by improving adhesive strength between a plastic substrate and an electrode, by providing on the substrate the electrode which has an insulating metallic oxide thin layer. CONSTITUTION:On a plastic base, an insulating metallic oxide film of SiO2, TiO2 or Al2O3 is formed by applying and heating a solution of, e.g. alkyl silicate, alkyl titanate, etc. On the metallic oxide film, a transparent electrode of In2O3, SnO2, etc., and an electrode of Al, Ag, etc., are formed by chemical vapor deposition, vacuum deposition, ion plating, etc. Then, a necessary oriented film is formed on the electrodes. Thus, the plastic substrate has large adhesive strength between the substrate and the electrodes and is free of peeling, etc. This substrate is used to fabricate a durable display device. |
