PURPOSE:To ensure the accurate recognition of characters even though a blot exists between characters, by providing a read data input inhibiting region between the adjacent characters. CONSTITUTION:A read data input inhibiting region IH is provided after reading a character C1 by a width l1, and the read information in the region IH is not used. Then the width l0 of the region IH is properly set, and as a result an evil effect is limited just to a part of a blot D0 although the blot D0 is adjacent to a character C2. As a result, the recognition factor can be improved. The region IH is formed by controlling a gate 3 provided at the rear stage of a preprocessing circuit 2. In such way, the region IH is provided to improve the recognition factor of characters. Thus the character can be accurately recognized although a blot exists between the characters. |
