The transducer senses vibrations of e.g. machines and includes a cylindrical housing containing a stainless steel sleeve whose ends are closed by two permanent magnets arranged with their polarities in the same sense. The two magnets are connected by an axial rod carrying two axially spaced coils which are wound on the rod with a cylindrical permanent magnet freely axially slidable on the rod. The outer surface of the movable magnet carries a chrome-coated brass anti-friction layer and the polarity of the magnet is such that it is repulsed by the end magnets. Vibration of the transducer causes the movable magnet to move between the coils and induce a signal in the windings.
