Laying underwater pipe or cable - by securing end to rear of pointed torpedo element on carrier at end of jib of hydraulic digger

The arrangement is intended for laying a (e.g. plastics) pipe or cable (11) in the underwater bed across a watercourse. The end of the pipe or cable is coupled (9,10,12) to the rear of a torpedo-shaped member at the lower end of a carrier (2) which is secured (4,5) to the end of the jib of a digger such that this member is pulled through the bed as the digger is operated (hydraulic cylinder 8). The pipe end may have a collar (10) held in a chamber (9) in the rear of the member by a bolted flange (12). The carrier may have knife edges (3) pointing in the digging direction.
