The spigot connector (R) is inserted in the end of a semi-rigid pipe (T) with spiral wound metallic reinforcement (11) of the interior wall. It has a sleeve (9) which is used in conjunction with an external clamp strap (14). A spiral (15) with a progressively varying pitch (P,P') is cut on that part of the sleeve which contacts the pipe, the range of pitch values being equated to that of the internal wall reinforcement spirals likely to be encountered in practice. The pitch may decrease with distance into the pipe, the spiral being formed by a rib of a half arrow head section.
