PURPOSE:To securely achieve clear thermal transfer recording with high density irrespective of the environmental temperature, by forcibly cooling an ink to a temperature not higher than a top peak value measured by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), preferably, not higher than the solidifying temperature of the ink. CONSTITUTION:A portable word processor is used in which a ribbon cassette is fitted with a cooling part for blowing air to a thermal transfer ribbon from an air blow-off port 9 of a cooling mechanism 8 disposed adjacently to a thermal head 5 and moved together with the head 5 in the same direction, immediately after the application of a voltage. By using a thermal transfer ribbon employing an ink having a top peak value of, for example, 70 deg.C and a solidifying temperature of 68 deg.C, thermal transfer recording is performed at an environmental temperature of, for example, 45 deg.C. |
