PURPOSE:To stabilize the composition of powdery raw material, by using a powdery raw material prepared by reduction-diffusion reaction at the time of manufacturing a rare earth-Co permanent magnet by powder metallurgy. CONSTITUTION:For example, in order to obtain raw material for an SmCo5 magnet by reduction-diffusion reaction (R/D process), respective powders of Sm2O3, Co, and further Ca as a reducing agent are weighed according to the batch size so that they form the prescribed weight ratio. Then, respective powders after weighing are uniformly mixed by means of a rotary barrel mixer, and the resulting mixture is filled into a heat treatment vessel made of stainless steel to undergo R/D reaction in a heat treatment furnace, which is passed through a washing state so as to be formed into a coarse powder as raw material. In this way, uniform mixing of raw material is attained and, as a result, composition of powdery raw material is stabilized, so that an excellent permanent magnet can be manufactured. |
