PURPOSE:To increase the efficiency of a surface acoustic wave resonator with increased reflection factor of surface waves, by forming a conductive film at the end surface of a piezoelectric substrate formed with exciting electrodes and reflection electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The resonator consists of excitation electrodes 12 comprising comb type electrodes meshing with each other on one major plane of a piezoelectric substrate 11 made of LiTaO3 and LiNbO3, a pair of reflection electrodes 13 and 14 provided to both the sides of the electrodes 12 with a prescribed interval, a stem 15 mounting the substrate formed with the electrodes, and conductor films 16 and 17 made of an Ag paste formed at the end side perpendicular to the propagation direction of the surface wave on the piezoelectric substrate. A signal voltage in a prescribed frequency only applied between the terminals of the electrodes 12 is reflected with the electrodes 13 and 14 at both sides, it is fed back to the exciting electrode 12 again and direct oscillation is made with the prescribed frequency. Since the conductor films 16 and 17 are provided at the end, the surface wave run at the end can be converted effectively into a reflected wave. |
