PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of usage of a transmission line, by avoiding a vacant transmission line at the transmission of a superimposing signal through passing through of the superimposing signal not only a luminance signal transmission line but also a chrominance signal transmission line. CONSTITUTION:In transmitting a luminance signal Y and a chrominance signal C of a color still image to a luminance signal transmission line 7 and a chrominance signal transmission line 8 with space diversity, the luminance signal Y and the chrominance signal C are generated at the same time from color image generators 2 and 3 connected to a controller 1 and they are inputted to a luminance signal transmitter 5 and a chrominance signal transmitter 6. A superimposing signal S from a superimposing signal generator 4 is inputted to the transmitters 5 and 6, and the signal S passed through the transmitters 5 and 6 together with the luminance signal Y and the chrominance signal C under the control of the controller 1. At the transmission of the signal S, the vacancy of a transmission line 7 or 8 is avoided to improve the efficiency of the usage of the transmission lines 7 and 8.
