Method of obtaining coloured image from black and white - involves dissolving silvered image and gelatin and using coloured fat-based ink wash

The method of obtaining a coloured image, in two stages uses black and white proof photograph on a water proof support. The silvered image and gelatine are soluble in a solution of corrosive oxident. Then the part so treated is coloured using a fatty ink of the desired colour. This operation cleans the support and passing a fatty ink on the treated proof only colours the part cleaned. This uses the hydrophobic properties of the fatty ink. Application is with a paint brush or felt pen.
