The profile (1) is used to mask a groove (3) in the table of a machine-tool such as a milling cutter or a drill to prevent the clogging of the groove with dirt. It has an approximate inverted 'U' shape in cross-section with web-holes (9) permitting the passage of lubricating oils. The top face of the web may be slightly troughed (12) with the holes at the lower level, the web also having overhangs which are bevelled (1') to fit groove edge splays. The bottom of the flanges (5) may have a 'T' section providing a rubbing strake (6) contacting the top wall of a 'T' section groove together with ledges (7) for a bottom plate (8). The flanges may be resilient and may deflect towards one another when placed in a groove.
|
