The invention relates to a clamping device which comprises a clamping flange and a flange nut and is intended for the grinding wheel of an angle grinder, the clamping flange and the flange nut, screwed onto a threaded journal of the grinding spindle, receiving the grinding wheel between their mutually opposite surfaces. In the case of said device, the pulling surface, directed towards the grinding wheel, of the flange nut is provided with a wear-resistant covering, the coefficient of friction of which is so low that the moment of friction between the grinding wheel and the flange nut is considerably lower than the moment of friction of the threaded connection flange nut/grinding-spindle journal (see figure). By means of this measure, it is achieved that, owing to the grinding-wheel slip which inevitably occurs when operating with the angle grinder, the flange nut is no longer carried along, but the grinding wheel slips away over the flange-nut surface directed towards it. A consequent, automatic tightening of the flange nut is thus avoided.
