Method of constructing a retaining wall with a surface at least partly sloping away and with a course having curves in the longitudinal extension. In this method, wall elements are prefabricated, are placed on a supporting surface and are mutually orientated with regard to the intended course. The method is to be developed in such a way that retaining walls with any course can be produced inexpensively and quickly. This is achieved in that the wall elements are produced as L-shaped angle blocks in cross-section and are placed with one L-leg projecting upwards and with the other resting on the supporting surface and, after rough alignment for forming the surface of the retaining wall, shotcrete is applied to the vertical L-leg.
