The cutting charge for linear cutting purposes comprises a bar 1 which is made from a mixture of explosive material and a first compliant material and has a V- shaped recess 2 with a lining 5 which is made from a mixture of a metal in particulate form and a second compliant material. The metal can be copper, and it is advantageous if the first and the second compliant materials are the same. The charge can also comprise a housing 6 with a distance section 7, 8 with a contact surface 12 which is adapted so as to bear against a working surface 10, the contact surface running parallel to the outer edges 9 of the lining 5 and at a certain distance from these for the purpose of maintaining an optimum clearance distance. The housing can also comprise a filling part for the recess, which filling part is made from a lightweight material and, if appropriate, is made in one with the housing from a flexible material, such as expanded polyethylene. <IMAGE>
